An indie author contacted me to work together in her first children's book: a really cute poem like narration about magical ways to go to sleep.
She wanted me to illustrate the magical ways and for the main character to be ambiguous so every children could see themselves in them. That was a challenge until I decided to go for a more stylized design with an almost ghost like child, which she loved.
The color palette I choose was inspired by the sunset, when the book starts, and my concept was that which every page, de colors turned more night-like, but still vibrant.
For the cover I gave her two options: one sleeping in the moon, and the other one on the bed. We ended up choosing the first because it was a good clue of the fantastical nature of the book.
